at times.
Callahan County has been producing some of the best mourning dove hunting in Texas. The breeding in our area and the migration from northern states gives this Central Texas county ample dove population for bird hunting success.
The
daily dove limit is set by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Mourning
Doves are one of the wildlife species that have regulated hunting for
game harvested.
The successful hunt location is dictated by habitat needs. The ranch has ample water for the birds and food sources meeting their diet requirements. The natural habitat of trees for nesting, cover for protection, fresh water and food fields, as well as sunflowers and grain make Bear Branch the place of choice for your next mourning dove hunt.

What to bring: Gun, shells, high top boots, rain slicker, bird bag, camp stool, fishing equipment, ice chest and valid Texas hunting license. Out of state hunters must obtain a Nonresident 5 day small Game Hunting License by contacting Texas Parks and Wildlife at 1.800.895.4248
Our Ranch Bunkhouse: The bunkhouse has a sitting room, game table, TV, 3 bedrooms that sleeps 10, you can add 2 to your group by using the sleeper sofa, bath, coffee bar and refrigerator. The bunkhouse is air-conditioned and heated. All towels and linens are furnished.
What to Expect: Dove hunts, bass fishing, cards, TV, a deck for relaxing, a hammock for sleeping and a fire pit for the "after the hunt" bragging. We also have horseshoe pits, volleyball and basketball.
