Rio Grande Turkey Hunting
Our Rio Grande turkey hunts take place along the creeks and river bottoms of Oldham County, where big toms roam the cottonwood draws and roost high in the trees each evening. This is classic Texas turkey country — winding creeks, tall cottonwoods, and open pastures that make for exciting calling setups and close encounters.
Mornings start early as we slip into the creek bottoms before daylight, setting up near known roost areas and listening for that first gobble to echo through the trees. When the sun breaks the horizon, we work the calls and coax the birds into range, often watching them strut and drum through the morning light.
These hunts are as much about the atmosphere as the action — the sound of gobblers along the river, the smell of mesquite in the air, and the thrill of watching a tom come running to the call. After the hunt, you’ll return to our comfortable lodging to relax, swap stories, and get ready to do it all over again the next day.
Our hunting season starts in the Spring March 28th.
